For centuries, the Rigi has been regarded as a place of power. In addition to subjective perceptions, it has also been studied through so-called energy measurements, which have revealed elevated levels of what are known as “Bovis units.” This scale is used in dowsing to describe the energetic quality of a place.
Measurements taken on the Rigi show above-average readings, which are said to indicate a special energetic aura.
Particularly high readings were recorded at the spring near the rock chapel, at the Känzeli lookout point, on the Rotstock, and at the Felsentor.
For more than 150 years, the historic steam locomotive No. 7 has been running on the Rigi, delighting visitors of all ages with its powerful, leisurely ride.
Today, it is housed in the former engine shed at Rigi Kulm. There, a permanent exhibition offers fascinating insights into the technology and unique character of this historic locomotive—which visitors can experience up close.
On certain days, the experience becomes even more immersive: That’s when Locomotive No. 7 leaves its display area and takes its guests up the Rigi using real steam power—a living piece of railway history.
